RECOVERING PROFESSIONALS

We accept referrals from the Recovering Professionals Program (RPP), which is a confidential referral and monitoring program designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists and podiatrists in South Carolina who are experiencing problems related to alcohol and/or other drug abuse or dependence, or from a dual diagnosis of addiction and mental illness. The program ensures that impaired professionals receive the help they need at the earliest point possible.

HIV SERVICES

Often time’s substance use increases one’s risk for communicable diseases such as: HIV, Hepatitis C, or TB. We provide education on these risks and also with identifying and describing HIV and STD’s. We provide free and confidential HIV testing for clients. We partner with Care Team (www.careteamsc.org) to provide prevention and education materials to our clients and can also make referrals directly to Care Team for treatment and support.

HIV/HCV

The majority of people who are positive are unaware they have been infected because they do not develop symptoms until years later.  The only way to know your status is to get tested.  If you would like to receive more information on how to get tested, please contact a staff member.

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a liver disease that is largely transmitted when blood from a person infected with the hepatitis C virus enters the body of someone who is not infected.  People at risk include those who: currently inject drugs, injected drugs in the past (even if it was once or many years ago), have HIV or AIDS, have abnormal liver tests or liver disease, received donated blood or organs before 1992, have been exposed to blood on the job through a needlestick or injury with a sharp object, or are getting long term hemodialysis.  Most people have no symptoms, which makes it even more important to get tested.  If you have experienced any of the items listed above, contact a staff member to find out how to get tested. Hepatitis C is treatable when identified early.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Today, most Fortune 500 and Fortune 1,000 companies have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) but smaller companies can greatly benefit from these services and most are unaware that they can affordably implement their own EAP.  One major benefit of an EAP is that valued employees experiencing personal problems can receive counseling before work performance deteriorates. Shoreline Behavioral Health Services can assist your company with promoting employee wellness, morale and productivity while reducing costs associated with:

  • Absenteeism
  • Grievances
  • Disciplinary actions
  • Turnover
  • Excessive health insurance claims
  • On the job accidents

Our EAP offers professional services to include assessment, referral and/or counseling services to help troubled employees experiencing family/marital, emotional/behavioral or substance related problems that may be affecting job performance.  Shoreline has several contracts with local companies and offers a variety of services to meet their budgetary needs.  Contact us today to see how we can help your company establish an EAP.
