Counseling Services

Entry into our counseling services is via a psychosocial assessment and application of the criteria of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). A multidisciplinary team considers the most appropriate level of care for each individual and any needed ancillary services. All clinical services are individualized to meet the unique needs of each individual. Services span the treatment continuum and include individual, group, and family counseling.
eef Our counseling is based on the disease model of addictions and encompasses the traditional twelve-step recovery model. In addition our clinical counselors draw from an eclectic blend of approaches to meet the needs of a diverse consumer population. For example, we include relapse prevention, resistance/denial, and special services for addicted women.

All of our counseling services are available during both day and evening hours for the convenience of both adult and adolescent consumers. We are an active part of the overall healthcare network in our region and, through these contacts, we are able to connect our consumers with other needed area service providers. Each client receiving counseling services at SBHS is assigned a case manager to assist with these arrangements as needed.

Our clinical counselors are highly qualified in the addictions field with each one holding state certification as an addictions counselor and/or a state license as a clinical counselor. Each counselor attends professional training seminars each year to stay abreast of new knowledge and techniques as they become available. Our counseling services are independently accredited by CARF, a national accrediting body, which assures consumers they will receive the highest quality counseling services at our agency.
